Activities in Abundance
The Lake Country in Minnesota has been a vacation destination for over 100 years. In the early years it was the fishing and cool summer temperatures that attracted visitors.
There are many more attractions than just fishing and cool temperatures. Lake Country now has attractions for visitors on a year around basis. Some current attractions include golfing, birding, antique hunting, horseback riding, hiking, biking, auctions and of course numerous special events.
Pine to Prairie Birding Trail
Pine forests, deciduous woodland, native tallgrass prairie, sand dunes (remnants of Glacial Lake Agassiz), calcareous fens, bogs, marshes, large and small lakes and rivers make up the transition zone that offers over 275 species of birds.
The trail is over 200 miles in length with 45 sites to view birds. These sites offer some of the most spectacular birding in the state.
You'll find birding trail logo signs in place at a number of birding locations along the trail. Call 800-433-1888 for full information or go to www.mnbirdtrail.com.
